We Welcome Our Octopi Overlords

A peer-reviewed research paper published in the journal Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, suggests that Earth’s original octopi came from outer space.

Researchers posit that retroviruses that fell from space added new DNA sequences to terrestrial genomes, which caused mutagenic change. Fair enough. But the paper goes on to suggest that cephalopod eggs – octopi, squid, etc. – arrived as is, albeit frozen. The authors osay that the octopus and other creatures have biological features that appear to have been derived from “some type of pre-existence.”

The scientific community is skeptical of this idea, but we like it. Where did cephalopods come from? Why are they here? What are they planning? What happens next?
