Have you ever considered how fairies dress? A post on Beachcombing’s Bizarre History Blog shares three fashion rules:

  1. Uniformity but not uniforms. When seen in a group, fairies will wear similar but not identical outfits. They might wear only a few colors and have matching tastes, but the details will not be exactly duplicated.
  2. Extravagance. Fairy clothing is crafted with expensive fabrics, such as silk or Cordovan leather. Their arrows are fletched with peacock feathers and sword hilts are ivory. Even the coloring signifies affluence.
  3. Classic style. Fairies don’t go for modern couture, but stick with clothing styles that have lasted hundreds of years. Even in the 1600s, fairy clothing was described as old-fashioned, and a reference c. 1300 suggests their clothing was quaint.
