During World War II, British soldier Jack Churchill went into battle armed with only a bow and arrows. An international archery competitor, Churchill joined the service when the war broke out, but never gave up his bow. With it, he dispatched enemies soldiers quickly and silently, from a distance. Unbelievably, Churchill survived the war, living to the ripe age of 89.

Churchill would be a fascinating character for historical fiction or as inspiration for a character in your own adventure novel.
