The Mystery of Royston Cave

Royston Cave

In 1742, in the English town of Royston, workmen uncovered an underground labyrinth beneath a massive millstone. Investigating, they found tunnels covered in carvings, including a depiction of the crucifixion, as well as human bones and artifacts.

The carvings have been dated back to the mid-1300s, and most depict Christian iconography, including numerous saints, the death and resurrection of Jesus, and God’s outstretched arm releasing a dove. Other depictions include Richard the Lionheart and possibly Jacques de Molay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar.

Was this a humble religious sanctuary? A stronghold of the Knights Templar? Something more magical? What happens next?
