The opening of Tutankhamen’s tomb was followed by the untimely deaths of prominent figures and archaeologists, leading many to believe in the Mummy’s Curse. Now, scientists believe the curse was indeed real, but caused by a fungus, rather than mystical forces. They were put on the trail after ten of twelve conservationists died after they opened the tomb of 15th century Polish King Casimir IV Jagiellon in 1973. The fungus in question is a leading cause of aspergillosis, a potentially deadly disease that attacks the lungs.

So, is the Mummy’s Curse magical or something more mundane? Is the fungus magical? Did it grow naturally or was it planted by the protectors of the tombs? Could the fungus have been spread in modern times to sabotage a dig or target a specific person? What happens next?
