A 23-year-old German-Iraqi woman tricked police into believing she’d been murdered, when in reality she and a friend had stalked and killed her lookalike. Officials – and family – initially identified the victim as a Munich-based beautician, but after doubts arose, the victim was eventually identified as a beauty blogger from a nearby province.
Police believe the killer wanted to fake her own death to avoid a family dispute. She and her accomplice lured the victim to a meeting place, where she was killed and disfigured. When the killer’s parents later discovered the victim in the back of their daughter’s car, they assumed the deceased was their daughter.
There’s a good chance someone is already fictionalizing this story – Tana French did something similar in The Likeness – but that doesn’t mean you can’t.
