Artist Concetta Antico sees the world a bit differently than the rest of us, and not merely because of artistic license. Antico is a tetrachromat, which means she has a fourth color receptor in her retina, allowing her to distinguish around 100 million different hues.
Setting aside our envy – we only got crooked teeth and heart disease from our ancestors – we find Antico fascinating. For a prompt, imagine all the ways the world would be different for you if you could distinguish that many colors. How could that trait figure into a plot? What about the other senses? What is someone could distinguish sounds, tastes, or textures to such a degree or vocalize sounds we’d never expect from the human throat? And don’t get us started on ESP. What happens next?
