Scooby Doo Never Heard of These Ghosts

Are there dinosaur ghosts? Has anyone seen a caveman ghost? In a post on the Daily Grail, John Reppion looks for the world’s oldest ghost stories.

  • Roman Empire Ghosts (2,000 years old). The British National Trust reports that the ghosts of Roman soldiers have been spotted at the Treasurer’s House, York, and at the former Roman stronghold at Chester.
  • Babylonian Ghost (3,500 years old). A Babylonian clay tablet dated to 1,500 BCE has the world’s oldest depiction of a ghost, along with instructions for exorcisms. The image was noticed only recently because it is visible only by lighting the tablet a specific way.
  • Pre-human ghosts (60 thousand years old). Some experts believe that we do see caveman ghosts, in the form of Bigfoot and Yeti sightings. How else to explain a beast which appears sold one moment and disappears the next?
  • Triassic Ghost (220 million years old). The Guinness Book of Records lists Vivaron, the Snake-Demon as the oldest ghost. Sightings of the 30-foot long rattlesnake-like creature have been reported around New Mexico’s Rio Arriba County since the 1500s.

Does this give you any ideas for a ghost story? What would Scooby Doo make of these?
