In a post on DIY MFA, JJ Graham offers advice for introverts seeking an online writing community. “It’s terrifying as an introvert to put yourself (and your work) out there,” Graham says. “But finding a writing community and writer friends are way easier than you might think.”
Graham recommends a slow-and-go approach. “Don’t look too far ahead and freak out,” he says. “Just baby step to the next item on the list. By the time you get to the end, you may find yourself excited to revisit your writing now that you’ve got constructive feedback on it.”
Graham’s list includes:
- Join a Facebook Group.
- Decide to Stay or Go.
- Begin Interacting on Your Terms.
- Find Friends.
- Host Online Write-ins.
- Find Where Your New Friends Hang Out.
- Critique Others’s Work and Get Your Work Critiqued.
