In a post on the Stage 32 blog, Ellie Coverdale busts five myths about screenwriting.
- Myth #1 – It Doesn’t Involve Much Writing. Screenplays may be short but that doesn’t mean they’re easy to write. Like short stories, screenplays may be harder to writer, because their truncated length forces you to be creative with your details.
- Myth #2 – It Doesn’t Take Much Time. As with any project, writing a screenplay takes as long as it takes. For every story you hear about a filmmaker writing a script in a few weeks or even days, there are many that germinated for months or years, through many rewrites.
- Myth #3 – Movies are Easily Made. You’ll receive rejections. A lot of them. Even after you’ve had a film released.
- Myth #4 – It’s Not Necessary to Sell Yourself. In 2022? Not likely.
- Myth #5 – Screenwriting Will Make You a Lot of Money Quickly. LOL.
