In a post on the Novlr blog, Pamela Koehne-Drube suggests some unusual places to find story prompts. She suggests the following tools and websites:
- Atsuzaki Playground takes two character names and generates a prompt. If you have characters in mind, the site can generate situations that might help you see them in a new light.
- Tumblr allows you to search posts tagged with “writing prompt,” including posts from writers and writing challenges.
- Solo RPGs allow you to role play solo, in stand-alone games or as part of a larger campaign. Games that require journaling or log keeping can generate writing prompts for your own work.
