Shades of Star Trek! Researchers have suggested that ancient plaques may have been the work of children, rather than religious artifacts. In reaching their conclusions, they noted the similarities between the owl images on the plaques and drawings of owls by young children, and speculated the items might have been toys.

Considering how often the Enterprise encountered fantastic beings who were actually the children of their species, this doesn’t seem far-fetched to us. What other ancient discoveries might have been intended for children or made for them? How else have archaeologists misinterpreted their discoveries? What if those toys were meant to entertain…something else. What happens next?
