Have you ever considered how fairies dress? A post on Beachcombing’s Bizarre History Blog shares three fashion rules:
- Uniformity but not uniforms. When seen in a group, fairies will wear similar but not identical outfits. They might wear only a few colors and have matching tastes, but the details will not be exactly duplicated.
- Extravagance. Fairy clothing is crafted with expensive fabrics, such as silk or Cordovan leather. Their arrows are fletched with peacock feathers and sword hilts are ivory. Even the coloring signifies affluence.
- Classic style. Fairies don’t go for modern couture, but stick with clothing styles that have lasted hundreds of years. Even in the 1600s, fairy clothing was described as old-fashioned, and a reference c. 1300 suggests their clothing was quaint.
