About 45 million years ago, hundreds of ancient frogs suffered a watery death while enjoying an amphibian orgy. This summer, paleontologists finally figured out what happened to these frogs found in the fossil record in central Germany. The fossils didn’t show signs of predation, so researchers posited they died from drowning or exhaustion from constant breeding.
