You wouldn’t be surprised to learn that acclaimed writer Kazuo Ishiguro – author of The Remains of the Day and the modern SF classic Never Let Me Go – has some good advice on writing. In a recent post, the Writers Write blog shared some of his best:
- “Write what you know is the most stupid thing I’ve heard. It encourages people to write a dull autobiography. It’s the reverse of firing the imagination and potential of writers.” – from Shortlist
- “I am not really that interested in what happened. I’m much more interested in what the narrator thinks happened. That battle people have with themselves about what they think they did or who they think they are.” – The Irish Times
