Prompt: What Do You Miss?

During her interview with the Write the Book podcast, poet Maggie Smith suggests a prompt inspired by the work of another poet. In Joe Brainard’s I Remember, each line of his prose poetry begins with the phrase “I remember.” Smith suggests that if you try this as a free-writing exercise, without editing or censoring yourself, you might find yourself connecting ideas that you might not have otherwise. Use this brainstorming to look for ideas for your work. As an alternative, you can begin with “I miss…”
