The Writing Life: All Stories End, Except Farming by bigpulp

In an article on Electric Lit, Sarah Rosenthal writes about her struggle completing creative work, and more specifically, finding a satisfying ending. Life is an ongoing story, so how can a writer find not only a satisfying conclusion to a work in progress, but create the right ending point for the reader, which will lead them to the emotional point the writer intends.

Rosenthal’s found her answer in a game app about farming, which by definition never ends. While at first the ongoing journey felt satisfying, in time Rosenthal became stuck in an endless loop. That dissatisfaction pushed her back into her writing, where she found it easier to craft an ending, as she envisioned her writing itself as her own never ending story.
