Emmanuel Nataf on Electric Lit has four ways writers can find inspiration, two of which involve actually leaving the house!
In addition to the tried and true method of using art to inspire fiction, Nataf suggests browsing through Craigslist as your own creepy at-home art gallery (my words, not his). Nataf also urges writers to think about subverting genre tropes. Tired of orphaned protagonists? Create a big family of gregarious aunts and uncles instead.
