In a post on the CrimeSpree blog, Richie Narvaez, author of Hipster Death Rattle, lists the five things he didn’t learn while writing his novel. He didn’t learn to speak Latin or find any insights into solving the problems created by gentrification, two things that do crop up in his novel.
While he did learn that he could write a novel, he didn’t necessarily learn how to, nor when to stop writing.
